Anim8or Test - IPSA Courier C/SM

Description

Tried to make it like this picture...

A Courier C/SM rendered in Anim8or. Specifically, a Type 01 Command Module (CM) from the FT-1 Courier, and the Type 02 Service Module (SM), thus making it a 0102 configuration.

To be honest, I really just did this so I could have a valid excuse to replace the first Featured Deviation I’ve ever did, which was this.  It held that position for almost 2 years, and it has to go. As much as I like it, it’s not really representative of the things I’m working on as of now.

Now, a thing that will almost certainly be in ISP’s future is improved graphics. An example is the comparison between a Hermes CCS, rendered via SketchUp (here) and Anim8or (here).

The only reason I can use Anim8or (and make images like this) at the moment is because SketchUp 2014 Pro can export in .obj files, with me preferring to export that way instead of the alternative (.dae or .kmz) because of neatness issues. Unfortunately, only SketchUp 2014 Pro exports in .obj, so for the last few months, I’ve been using the older SketchUp Make to conserve time on the Pro demo, which is somewhat annoying, become my computer thinks that 2014 is the default SketchUp program. For the record, I currently have 3.85 hours left on that demo.

Unfortunately, if rendered Anim8or images are to become a norm later, I’ll have to find a more permanent (and reliable) export solution. Another issue is the exported model itself. Anim8or highlights a lot of model errors that are practically invisible in SketchUp. Such an example is the front of the CM (here), which looks horrible.

That’s about it for now.

IPSA Space Program (ISP) Update 8 is currently scheduled for a date of NET June 1.
